HIKE IN LIVING EXPENSES FOR INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS FROM JANUARY 2025
Starting from January 2, 2025, the UK is raising the minimum financial requirements for international students, aiming to account for inflation and rising living costs. Here's a breakdown:
Current Requirements (2024):
London: £1,334 per month for up to 9 months.
Outside of London: £1,023 per month for up to 9 months.
Dependents:
£845 per month (London).
£680 per month (outside of London).
Updated Requirements (From January 2, 2025):
London: £1,483 per month (11.2% increase).
Outside of London: £1,136 per month (11.0% increase.
Key Points:
The changes aim to reflect inflation and rising living expenses.
Accommodation Deposits: Students who have already paid for their accommodation can reduce the amount of funds they need to show.
Exemptions: Students who have been in the UK on another visa route for at least 12 months do not need to show proof of maintenance funds.
Application Timing: If you submit your visa application before January 2, 2025, the previous financial requirements apply.
